🍵 Matcha Heaven in Asakusa – Tabanenoshi’s Signature Brûlée Crepe

If you love matcha desserts, Tabanenoshi in Asakusa is an absolute must-visit.
Their most popular item, the Kakegawa Matcha Brûlée Crepe (¥1,190), is beautifully layered and freshly made for each order.
I waited about 15 minutes before getting mine, but it was definitely worth it — the moment you bite in, you’ll understand why this shop always has a line.
🍓 Crispy Matcha Brûlée on Top, Creamy Layers Inside
The top layer is a perfectly torched matcha brûlée, slightly bitter and deeply aromatic.
Inside, you’ll find:
- Rich matcha ice cream
- Fresh whipped cream
- Sweet strawberries
- Crispy pastry flakes

Each bite brings a new combination of flavors — creamy, crunchy, and slightly bitter — making it a truly elegant dessert experience.
☕ A Little Bitter, but Beautifully Balanced
The brûlée topping has a hint of bitterness, giving it a refined, adult flavor.
Some visitors (especially children or those who prefer sweeter desserts) might find it slightly strong.
The foreign traveler sitting next to me didn’t seem to enjoy it much, but as a matcha fan, I absolutely loved it.
If you appreciate authentic Japanese matcha, this dessert is for you. 🍃
💳 Good News: Cards Accepted!
While many shops in Asakusa are still cash only, Tabanenoshi accepts credit cards and e-payments,
which makes it super convenient for travelers.
You can easily pay with Visa, Mastercard, or mobile payment — no need to worry about carrying yen.
🍰 Other Tempting Menu Items

Besides the brûlée crepe, the menu also features:
- Kakegawa Matcha Tiramisu (¥1,190)
- Sweet Potato Crepe (¥1,190)
Every dessert looks stunning and carefully crafted. I can’t wait to come back and try more next time!
