Ichiran Dazaifu’s exclusive Gokaku Bowl – a lucky treat for exam takers and ramen lovers alike.

This shop offers not only a delicious and symbolic meal but also a welcoming environment for families with kids. Here’s our full review, including the crowd situation and what to expect.

A Lucky Bowl for Exam Takers: “Gokaku” Ramen

Dazaifu is known as the home of Sugawara no Michizane, the deity of learning, enshrined at Dazaifu Tenmangu.
Just a few minutes away from the shrine, Ichiran Dazaifu Omotesando serves ramen in a custom-designed bowl decorated with the word “合格” (Gokaku = success).

It’s a fun, photogenic, and memorable way to enjoy a meal – especially for students or families visiting the shrine for good luck.

Long Lines at Lunchtime – Expect to Wait 30+ Minutes

We arrived around 12:00 PM, and the line was already long – we waited about 30 minutes before getting inside.

That said, the ramen and service were well worth the wait!
If you want to avoid crowds, we recommend coming after 2:00 PM, especially if you’re with small children.

What Does It Taste Like?

The ramen was classic Ichiran – a clean, mild tonkotsu broth with thin noodles.
The flavor was satisfying but light, making it easy to finish even after walking around all day.

You can customize the broth strength, noodle firmness, and toppings via a personal order sheet, making it suitable for all ages and spice preferences.

Family-Friendly Points

Ichiran Dazaifu Omotesando is surprisingly kid-friendly for a popular ramen chain.

  • Backrest cushions are available for children’s chairs
  • Children’s utensils (small bowls, spoons, and forks) are provided
  • Friendly staff who assist proactively with families
  • Kids Eat Free: Register the official Ichiran app and show your coupon to get one free kid’s ramen (for children 12 and under)

We recommend downloading the app ahead of time to make use of the benefit smoothly!
